ABOUT THE ARTIST
Abir Almajed is a Saudi abstract artist, born and raised in Riyadh. She is also a graphic designer and has earned her bachelor's degree in Graphic Design at Bellevue University in Nebraska.
Almajed expresses her thoughts and emotions in an abstract visual form as a way of processing certain feelings, specially when it comes to exploring her grief. It's a space for visualizing elegies or inner dialogues, by accepting those heavy emotions of sorrow and letting it all settle in as a way of healing.
Unafraid to show her vulnerability, she intentionally adds elements of imperfections to embrace those emotions, which creates more depth in her paintings. Black and White serve as the foundation of Almajed’s color palette, yet she occasionally introduces colors in some way or another. The addition or deliberate absence of color, enhances the overall idea.
Almajed’s process is deeply personal as each painting becomes a reflection of her own experiences. Through the art of creation, she allows her grief to be present; inviting viewers to sit with what is usually unseen or unspoken.
Abir Almajed’s artwork is unique as there are no prints, copies or NFTs.
No personal statement.
